Greetings, HHS Alumni and Friends –

 

Hope you are well and enjoying the spring as we get ready for summer.  This is graduation time of year, summer planning time, and for many – REUNION planning time!  Please note that we know 2 classes are working on reunion plans and we want to be able to share that info as it becomes available. Those are the classes of 1974 and 1989. There are probably others.  Please email us with news, to post a request for news, to reach planners to help, etc.

 

We also want to remind you of the Annual Alumni BBQ at HHS which will be on Friday night, Homecoming at HHS, from 4:30 to 7:30 pm at the high school.  The date is Friday, October 23, 2009.  Please mark your calendar now and plan to attend.  As always, all funds raised will be used for academic needs at the school and those needs are many.  We as an organization can help!

 

That does, of course, bring up the ongoing request for all of you to please join, rejoin and advertise the Hickory High Alumni Association!  We need members and in this difficult economic year in the country, we need you even more.  ALL gifts are welcome and needed.  Look through the members on the website and then make a decision to be part of your alumni association.  Former students and friends are all welcome.

 

Another wonderful opportunity to help is through Project Potential.  This is a very special program for mentoring specific “at risk” students from 8^th grade through graduation. The alumni association has contributed to this wonderful program and they need volunteer mentors.  If you want to know more please contact JoAnn Spees at HHS, Speesjo@hickoryschools.net or by phone at 828-322-5860.
